E-Mobility

Electromobility represents a global opportunity to reduce direct emissions from the transport sector. Therefore, it is a key to climate-friendly mobility.

Due to tightened CO2 - limits within the EU and internationally, many manufacturers face the challenge of further reducing fleet emissions. In this context, the issue of cost-effectiveness is becoming increasingly important from the outset due to the smaller variety of components and the currently lower production quantities.

The right joining process for the respective application

The selection of the right materials at the appropriate place of use is of fundamental importance for the most resource-efficient performance in electromobility. Combinations of different materials are often used for individual components such as battery technology or conductors and in the area of the drive unit. Aluminum and copper or hybrid joints of both materials can be mentioned as examples. Suitable joining technology solutions are required for a safe and durable connection between the individual components. We support you in increasing the efficiency of your joining technology solutions.

Efficient joining processes as a success factor

Today's industrial landscape is such that there is still only little fundamental practical knowledge available for many series processes in electromobility. Examples of challenges include the production of batteries, drive units, high-performance electronics and vehicle electrical systems, including all associated components. We support you in the early consideration of challenges in the design of components, such as widely varying material thicknesses, very delicate components, hybrid joints or materials that are generally difficult to join.

State-of-the-art joining technology know-how

When selecting and developing suitable joining processes for your components, we do not only consider already established "standard solutions". Together with our scientific research partner ISF, we are continuously working on a technology transfer from cutting-edge research in the field of joining technology to industrial implementation. In this way, process advantages can be utilized specifically for your components. With our process laser beam welding in vacuum, for example, some advantages can be achieved for certain components in electromobility, such as significantly reduced spatter formation, shorter process times and higher welding depths at lower laser powers.

Cost-effective design and production

The demands on joining technology in e-mobility are varied and high. Your joints must be electrically and mechanically efficient, as well as ergonomically appealing and have a sufficiently long service life. We advise and support you in the selection of the right joining process and always keep the economic conditions in mind. Because the basic conditions for a cost-efficient production are already set in the design and engineering phase. If the wrong decisions are made here, the later production can become considerably more expensive.

Therefore, we advise you already in the development phase of new models and assemblies. Not because we are better in producing electromobility parts, but because we have the broad and deep experience that is necessary to consider the joining process in an optimal way already during the design phase. In addition, since pure empirical values are often not enough in view of your high development and investment costs, we verify them in the production of prototypes in the laboratory under conditions close to production.

One partner until the production runs smoothly

We see ourselves as your joining technology partner with profound industry knowledge in the field of electromobility and the associated supply industry. We accompany you from the development of joining processes and their optimization up to their implementation. Because we only consider our task as completed when the joining processes in your production run smoothly.
